Project Description

The REACh Families (Reaching East African Children and Families) project will support East African American families that include children with special needs, as well as their parents and siblings of Ethiopian, Eritrean and Somali descent. REACh Families will also educate these families on various topics related to raising children with special needs to enable them to care and advocate for their children. Additionally, the project will increase community awareness of disabilities by holding a resource fair and providing presentations with materials available for families in their native languages of Somali, Amharic and Tigrinya. REACh Families expects this outreach to help people learn how to recognize the early signs of developmental disabilities and access services for early intervention.
