Project Objective
The goal of this project is to improve the quality of life among Asian Americans affected by developmental disabilities and to increase public awareness about developmental disabilities in this community. This goal will be accomplished through community outreach events such as seminars, health fairs, television and radio programs, print media, social media. The project will offer case referrals for screenings and diagnostic evaluations and group and individual support services for families impacted. By the end of the project period, the goal is to offer a comprehensive community-based support center for Asian American families and individuals in the greater Houston area. The center will provide various programs to enhance independent living skills for individuals and also to empower family members with better knowledge, skills and resources to become advocates for their family members.

Create and support promising practices that enable people with developmental disabilities to be fully included in their communities and to have control over their own lives by 9/30/2021.
