  • TCDD Grant to Expand Advocacy Training Program

    Senator Jeff Wentworth announced that the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities awarded $40,000 for the first year of a two-year grant to Brighton School, Inc., to expand the Parent Alliance for Learning and Support (PALS) Program. During the first year, PALS will provide training for 200 parents of children with disabilities on general advocacy and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). They will also train 60 young adults with disabilities in self-advocacy and 40 professionals/community members in general advocacy. Training is provided in English and Spanish.

  • Grants Expand El Paso Disability Leadership/Advocacy Programs

    Senator José Rodríguez announced that the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities awarded grants to the Paso del Norte Children’s Development Center and the Region 19 Education Service Center. Each grant will provide $40,000 for the first year to expand local disability leadership and advocacy training programs.

  • Senator Troy Fraser Announces TCDD Award to Imagine Enterprises

    Senator Troy Fraser (R-Horseshoe Bay) announced that the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities awarded a $40,000 grant to Imagine Enterprises to expand a leadership and advocacy training program for youth with disabilities. The two-year project will train six youth as peer-to-peer trainers who will instruct 50 more individuals, 16-22 years old, to be peer mentors for other youth in Abilene and the surrounding counties.
