What is DD?
A developmental disability (DD) is a severe, chronic disability that begins before the person reaches age 22 and is likely to continue throughout one’s life.
People First Language
What do you call a person with a disability? A person. People First Language is an objective and respectful way to speak about people with disabilities by emphasizing the person first, rather than the disability.
Texas Legislature
To keep disability advocates informed during the 86th Texas Legislature, TCDD provided weekly updates and highlighted noteworthy bills that went through the legislative process.

November 2019 Council Meeting Wrap-Up
During its November meetings, the Council funded new innovative projects, discussed plans to address various disability-related issues, and provided input on disability services in Texas.

Mary Rochford Joins TCDD as Communications Coordinator
In her role at TCDD, Rochford develops content that promotes the Council’s impact and informs disability advocates. She is originally from El Paso and graduated from Emerson College in Boston.

TCDD Seeks Grants Management Director
The senior-level position will oversee the monitoring of the Council’s grant projects. This position will be located at the TCDD office in Austin, Texas.
